Q: What is a market line?
A: A market line is the settlement boundary inside a bet type.
It tells the model what condition decides win, loss, push, half win, or half loss.
Examples:
| Market | Line | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Over/Under | 2.5 | Over wins if total goals exceed 2.5 |
| Over/Under | 2.0 | Total goals equal 2 means push |
| Asian Handicap | -0.25 | Home gives 0.25 goals |
| Asian Handicap | +0.5 | Home receives 0.5 goals |
Different lines mean different settlement rules.
Over 2.0 and Over 2.5 are both over bets, but they are not the same leg:
| Total goals | Over 2.0 | Over 2.5 |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Push | Full loss |
| 3 | Full win | Full win |
So a standardized leg id must include both bet type and line. Writing only over or asiahandicap is not enough.
